Meet the Nest Protect

The Nest Protect is a “smart”, industrial grade 10-year smoke and carbon monoxide alarm. It detects the levels of smoke and carbon monoxide and alerts you in a calm, clear, human voice informing you of what the problem is and the location of the danger in your home. The Nest protect also has a Split-Spectrum Sensor, which looks for fast and slow-burning fires. Once the Nest Protect is connected to Wi-Fi, it will send alerts to your smartphone when something needs to be reported. Such as, smoke and carbon monoxide, when batteries are running low, or if a sensor is not working. And when the alarm goes off because you’ve left toast in the toaster for too long – we’ve all done it – you can silence the alarm through the Nest app on your smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

The Nest Protect offers many useful and convenient features. It tests itself over 400 times a day to ensure everything is working properly, and you can check the status in the Nest app. It also has a Steam Check feature, that uses a custom algorithm and humidity sensor to detect steam, so a hot shower will not cause your alarm to go off. And when you need a glass of water in the middle of the night, the Nest Protect senses your movement once you walk underneath it, and Pathlight lights your way. The Nest Protect will also never wake you up at 2 a.m. with a low-battery chirp due to the Nightly Promise feature. When you turn the lights off to go to bed, the Nest Protect light ring will glow green, ensuring everything is working properly.

Customers can also enjoy the Nest Protect with other Nest products such as the Nest Thermostat and Nest Cam. If the Nest Protect alarm goes off, it alerts your Nest Thermostat to turn off the gas furnace, which is the most common source of CO leaks and can spread smoke through your home when there’s a fire, and your Nest Cam will automatically record a clip while the alarm is going off so you can see what happened. The Nest Protect and other Nest products can be purchased and installed through GreenTree Air Conditioning Inc.
